Ensure your end of the year donations have an impact close to home by contributing to the United Way of Kaufman County. Such donations are tax deductible and will help the agency reach it's $175,000 campaign goal.
"Donations help home bound senior citizens receive meals (and) individuals needing assistance with home care and hospice," Executive Director Laura Henry said. "Funds are also directed to agencies which provide vital services to innocent children who have been abused, victims of domestic abuse needing shelter out of harm’s way, the physically challenged and families temporarily homeless due to disasters."
According to Henry, the UWKC plays an important role in disseminating information to those seeking services. She added that a direct correlation exists between the United Way's ability to assist and the communities’ level of support.
"Unfortunately, times of greater need occur simultaneously with times when our regular donors experience a decreased ability to contribute," said Henry. "However, we know this can be overcome by reminding the community that more contributors sending small amounts will allow us to exceed our goal."
Donations are accepted through United Way of Kaufman County’s website uwkau.itechra.net or by mailing a check to P.O. Box 648, Terrell, TX 75160.
